Overview
Come witness nature at its purest as you go turtle-watching on the east coast of Trinidad, into the tiny village the Matura to witness the giant leatherback turtles.
The endangered leatherback turtles come ashore during the month of March to July each year for their nesting season.
These giant leatherback turtles visit these shores as many as 3 or 4 times during the season to lay between 480 and 1,000 eggs. They can be up to seven feet in length and can weigh more than 2,000 pounds. These magnificent creatures travel for thousands of miles in the water to come here to lay their eggs.
